Pottery Wheel Throwing 102

4 Week Class - 2 Classes Per Week
Cost: $180 (includes clay & kiln firings)
Maximum of 3 People Per Session
This class is ongoing through out the year; times vary.

Class held at: Wild Womyn Studio

This class is designed to give you practice time in throwing clay on a wheel and to move you into pottery shapes and forms. You will need to have a working knowledge of clay and the potters wheel. In order to progress into forms you will need to be able to "center" your clay. If you have any questions about this please talk to the instructor.

Classes last 1 to 1-1/2 hours per session. Extra wheel time is $20 hour, providing your own clay. (I may have extra clay you can purchase.) Be sure to wear old clothes and shoes because you will get clay on you. Pre requisite is Wheel Throwing 101 or instructors approval.

First Week

1st Session: Studio orientation and skill evaluation

Clay knowledge
Process levels; Can you center your clay?
Wedge and throw (Blow day)

2nd Session:

Again practice and evaluation, wedge and throw 3 tumblers (All the same size)

Second Week

3rd Session:

Wedge and throw 3-5 tumblers

4th Session:

Trim and finish for green ware firing

Third Week

5th Session:

Wedge and throw 3-5 tumblers

6th session:

Trim and finish for green ware firing

Fourth Week

7th Session:

Wedge and throw 3-4 bowls

8th Session:

Trim and finish all work

A non refundable deposit of $25 is due two weeks before the first class date or as soon as possible to reserve your spot. The balance is due on the first day of class.
